Ka Bel, driver injured in road mishap
Anakpawis Rep. Crispin Beltran is now confined at the Philippine General Hospital after figuring in what appears to be a freak road accident in Intramuros, Manila.
Jimmy Miranda, Beltran's driver, was also hurt. The solon was on his way to the centennial celebration of the Philippine Assembly at the old Ayuntamiento Building, also in Intramuros.
Read reports from Inquirer.net and ABS-CBNnews.com and view this Filipino-language newsflash for more details:
I hope Ka Bel and Ka Jim recover fast, and that the Manila police and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim to investigate the incident.

Eid Mubarak!
The day is winding down and I have seen a few blog posts about today's great Muslim holiday, Eid il Fitr. Here's my contribution to greater Muslim understanding in the blogosphere.
Curious how great this Muslim celebration is? Find out from IslamOnline.net which has a video on what Muslims do on this day.
According to the site:
In Manila, thousands celebrated at Quirino Grandstand and the Golden Mosque in Quiapo. In New York, the iconic Empire State Building went green in tribute to the city's and the world's Muslims.
To Muslim friends Kadu, Teng, Amirah and the folks at MCPA and Suara Bangsamoro: Eid Mubarak!
Curious how great this Muslim celebration is? Find out from IslamOnline.net which has a video on what Muslims do on this day.
According to the site:
The first day of the lunar month of Shawwal, which follows Ramadan, is known as `Eid Al-Fitr. This `eid (Islamic public celebration) is known in some places by the Turkish name Bairam. It is sometimes called the Lesser `Eid or Lesser Bairam because it lasts only one day, whereas `Eid Al-Adha, during the Hajj season, lasts for three days. Here are five facts on the worldwide celebration and the Wikipedia entry for more information. Eid Mubarak greeting cards can be sent from here.
`Eid Al-Fitr is a happy occasion for Muslims. They come to the `Eid Prayers with a sense of accomplishment for having fasted the month of Ramadan and for coming closer to Allah. It is a time for sharing zakat al-fitr with the poorest of the poor. (Zakat al-fitr must be paid before the `Eid Prayers.) It is a time for Muslim families and friends to worship and celebrate together.
